Mr. Maxwell has extensive experience both as a senior investment banker and as a corporate executive. His experience spans a broad range of sectors, including financial services, technology and biotechnology, healthcare and manufacturing.
Previously, Mr. Maxwell was President and CEO of Financing for Science International, Inc. (“FSI”), a publicly-traded, specialty finance company. FSI was a leader in providing innovative financing to rapidly growing, middle market companies nationwide until its acquisition by the FINOVA Group in 1997. FSI was a pioneer in providing financing to biotech companies and emerging growth companies in the technology sector.
In 1999, Mr. Maxwell co-founded Ironwood Capital, an investment bank located in Connecticut. Prior to Ironwood, he served as SVP/CFO of ProHealth Physicians, the largest primary care physician organization in the state. For ten years, Mr. Maxwell served in senior financial and business development capacities with Freeport McMoRan, one of the world’s premier natural resource companies. Mr. Maxwell was responsible for Freeport’s entry into the geothermal power business with the acquisition of a major West Coast power producer. Mr. Maxwell started his career as a lending officer with the International Division of Bank of Montreal in Montreal.
He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BA Economics (Honors) from the University of Manchester in England. He holds Series 7, 24, 28 and 63 FINRA licenses and serves as Westbury’s Chief Compliance Officer.
